Default NHRA tech questions- battery box & nitrous lines?

heres my situation. I have a hawker genesis g16ep sealed lead-acid battery very securely mounted inside a Summit Racing battery box (p/n SUM-G1200A) in my trunk. I have a honda del sol so there is a firewall between the trunk and driver's compartment. I am wondering if i will pass tech or not b/c the box isn't a sealed one w/ vent tube. Do i need to get the Moroso sealed battery box (p/n 74050) instead?
I will be adding a master cutoff switch by the event so that won't be a concern.

Also, as of right now, my nitrous lines run through the engine compartment. Do i have to run them outside of the vehicle to pass spec? I will be adding a vent tube by the event also, so that's not a concern either.

heres a pic of the current set-up:

sorry it doesn't show much in the pic.

thanks for any info.

normally the cover would be on the box.

you should be alright, as long as tech sees a n2o blow down tube and a master batt cutoff, i dont think they will bother you

it is plastic, but plastic doesn't necessarily mean a no no. NHRA accepts the Moroso plastic box. i think i'm just going to get that one too be safe.

you might want to rotate that bottle with the line facing down to aid the pickup.

thanks a lot man. i already have it facing directly down, with a AN swivle L fitting so the line doesn't kink up. good heads up though for those who don't already know the right siphon placement.

As long as the firewall between the trunk and passenger compartment is steel/aluminum, and completely sealed, you won't have a problem. Without the firewall, battery box must be steel/aluminum, or the Moroso plastic one.

Small detail, but in the photo it looks like the positve terminal is awfully close to that metal tie-down strap. Maybe get one of those OEM style rubber boots for that terminal. Battery shouldn't move with that clamp, but you never know. Maybe you could spin the batter around so that the positve terminal is twisted away from the strap, like the ground terminal is positioned in the photo.

May sound like I'm picking fly-poop out of the pepper, but us old guys get nervous over details.

good heads up...it is VERY securely mounted. but i'll be changing where the cables go w/ the new box b/c there don't share one exit from the box. thanks.
