you would be best off following the NHRA rules. you can download the rulebook here:

um...sounds like a picture post to me!!
...Lets see the project and hear more about it!!
EDIT!: Just looked at your site...looks like you have a picture of a RWD race car on the homepage..Is that your project as well?

the rulebooks, non of them, will illustrate all the proper position or min wall thickness and min od of all the tubing that is critical to safety at speciific speeds and ets. you must contact the SFI both sanctioning bodies the NDRA and the NHRA are members. Basically the SFI writes technical specs for both bodies. the specs you need to be most concerned with deal with the max speed the car will achieve and the min et the car will be capable of. keep in mind that you will also need the rulebooks from the sanctioning bodies that you plan on attending races with. each body has its own ideas concerning windshield rake, overhangs, tire size etc.. in my opinion you have the cart before the horse. you shouldn't have even torched, sawed or bought any part until you have put the whole project down on paper. i don't mean to bust you up, this sport needs guys like you that are willing to take on the challenge of building a purpose built drag car but i don't want to see your dreams fade because of oversights on your behalf. it is very easy to become discouraged once a project becomes very difficult or you have to rebuild a section of it because someone changed a ruling or you worse you just didn't bother to plan for the many possible pitfalls that will become you.
