Default OK so I think the h23 vtec is gonna have to be pulled apart again!

Ok here goes! So everyone knows my sob story about the build and how much **** it gives me.

The motor is running decent for a motor with 370cc injectors and the p13 345cc ecu. But its burning way too much oil!

I do a compression test...225 across the board. So today I took it to a local shop to do a leakdown. The leakdown came back with a 2% leak down across the board!

SOOOO what that means is that I have a huge problem somewhere in my head. So I will pull head next week and see what happened. I think its a combo of bad valve guides and seals.

I bought the head from a guy on the west coast that had it rebuild and P&P. The only thing I can think of is the shop did a half fast job on the valves and screwed it up.

Any other suggestions as to what the cause might be? I hope I have it narrowed down.

Man this motor really pisses me off!

well atleast be happ that the bottom end is good,,

you should take off your header and see if you see any oil in the exhaust port to see if you can figure out which valve seal/guides are leaking.. hopefuly is not all of them, but at least the bottom end is fine.

It may be worth replacing your PCV valve on the cam cover before you take the cylinder head off.

A faulty PCV valve can cause the plenum chamber vacuum to "suck" oil from the crank case at low engine loads.

Its worth a try.

WellI did the test the helms manuel tells you to do and it passed. So I really dont think that is the problem.

Oh we are talking blue as blue can be smoke and if I get over 4000 rpms the car behind me will probebly crash into a tree or something. Its that bad.

I have drove the motor about 800 miles now and have gone through 2 quarts being really nice to the motor. I think if I got on it I would run out of oil!<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by prelittlelude &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">

OH word. Yeah thank god the bottom end is pretty set. The guy doing the leakdown said he hasnt seen a motor better than 5% in over a year. After seeing the car run and then testing it this dude face just dropped. We bet me money it was the rings!

oil control ring might be too gapped too big. max is .015" for the end gap i believe....i talked to my builder and he said that most likely it is the oil control ring. He said that the oil control ring wont lower your compression test and it will raise your compression test #'s because the oil is sealing it (similar to the wet compression test).

you can try to take a look at your rings.
