Default 1972 Austin Mini running 11.02 @ 126mph, But need help please.

Hi guys,
I am Stu from England.
I am currently running a Street legal Austin Mini with a Ford 1900 CVH motor in the rear transverse, best et so far 11.02 @ 126 mph on pump fuel.
What I was wondering is, what transmissions are you guys using in these civics that are running 9s? I have only got 460bhp & I keep breaking the tranny I am using. Also even with a quick shift on my tranny I lose valuable time shifting.
Come on someone must be able to help me get into the 10s

How many passes does it last?

Maybe try to cryogenicly treat whatever keeps on breaking.

Hi Rusty,
Can last 1 or 10 passes, breaks in many different ways also, always on launch, 1.5 60 ft. front wheels in the air.

Sounds pretty crazy. Unless you can get another tranny that will mate, looks like youll have to cryo or go custom of some sorts

What direction does your motor spin? What are you willing to spend on a trans?

not shitting you, but have you looked into an air cooled vw trans? they have been worked out for so long, a bullet proof tranny will run like 2500 bucks. figure an adaptor plate to fit your motor to that trans will be needed, which can't be that hard, as companies have adaptor plates for vw trannys for just about every engine out there. Try kennedy enginering, they have adaptor plates to mate up to just about any motor. If they dont have what you need, i imagine you could send a spare block and have one made.

I would fit a Turbo 400 trans with custom bellhousing in that thing. Those things take all the abuse the 1200hp supra guys can throw at them

Hi Justin,
Turbo 400 is inline, I am Transverse so would not fit.
I would need a FWD tranny, Look at the pics, you can see the engine displacement.

Hi Roger,
We have 2 main drag strips over here where I race, the 1st is
(Santa Pod Raceway) which is near Northampton, & the 2nd is Shakespeare county raceway, which is near Stratford upon avon.
Who are the Norwood crew? & do you have a web address for them.
Regards Stu

If you give me your email address, I'll send pictures of the car no problem.

guys, what about a trans from a front drive cadillac, probably with the northstar engine. it could handle the power with no problem. the electronics in the trans could be a little tricky to figure out though.
