integra Motor w/ highest miles?
Hey guys, I haven't been to this forum in like a year because of school and other stuff, but summer is hitting and I want to get another car. I saw an ad for a 99' gsr that has 205,000 miles on it, sounds fishy huh? I didn't get to see it yet or contact the owner, but I was wondering what you guys think first hand. I know Honda's last but from what I've seen that's about 2/3's of the engine's life if it was treated right. How far up there are you guys on your engine's? Any problems that occured a long the way?
-thanks

99 with 200k? my 94 has less than 80k... I wouldn't get it, although Honda engines are very durable 200k in that amount of time doesn't seem right. I'd only get it if you were getting a great deal on it and the interior/exterior was immaculate. Take it to a mechanic and ask him to check out the engine and ask for receipts for maintenance. If you get a good enough deal and the body/interior is in good condition, worst comes to worst you can swap a new engine in there.
Although it got a lot of miles, 200K in a 99 would indicate a freeway car, probably better then most that sit in traffic or are raced all the time. Granted that some things are ready to be replaced, but if the price is right, then it might be a good deal...
40k miles a year, that's not as bad as it sounds. my mom ONLY drives around town and she puts ~35k miles a year, she hardly ever even leaves town. daily driven on highways, i'd believe it. i'd do a compression test to make sure it's healthy, check for any oil leaks.. check for any rust, make sure there's no knocking sounds from suspension or creaking from axles, etc etc... shoudl be good to go, just make sure you don't buy it for too high of a price

thanks guys for the advice, its a pretty good deal for a 99', around 6grand, but like i said, i haven't seen it in person yet. Hopefully its been well maintained. But yeah, i haven't seen many motors go past 200k without beginning to see some leakage or compression loss, although there was this driving instructor that had a 94 acura legend that was driven all day every day with alil over 500k miles on it, he must've pampered that thing.
That's nothing dude, I drive 55k a year last year since my gf move to LA for grad school, and my new job require me to drive 100 miles a day.
Good thing I found carpool everywhere I go, and get paid to drive instead of paying for ga$.

actually, what's fishy about 203k miles?
It seems like this person is being honest as he reports the high mileage on his 99.
Maybe he uses his car for work and his/her commute is just longer than most people.

200k is high but i know of at least 5 people that have 300k and still going strong i would try to talk the price down maybe 4.5k-5k would be a mint price if everything else is in excellent condition.
hell with the money you save on the car save for a k20 swap, you could sell that engine for prolly a lil ,**** ill buy it with the 200k if the price is right

kbb blows. it underrates mileage. id say no more than 5k for that '99.
