Default Car is hesitating...

My 99 v6 has been hesitating. I had a check engine light, and had the mechanic check it, he said it was a dirty o2 sensor, but after he cleared it, and ran it, it didn't come back on, and he said it should be okay. Today it came back on again, and was hesitating. Every now and then it does this. I'll be pushing the gas pedal, and it wont do anything, but after a couple seconds, itll just suddenly go. Or if I floor it, it will go without hesitating.

Any ideas?

I'm gonna go put a bottle of fuel injector cleaner through it with some fresh gas, hope it helps.

well what code did it throw??? itll be easy to obtain the code yourself and check here then to trust a mechanic on his words (most the time)...

but if hes legit and says it the o2, youll have to change the o2 sensor.... just clearing the check engine light will erase it for the meantime... but if there is a serious problem, it will come back on regardless how many times you clear it.

how many miles have u got on the car??? it sounds to me like u might have just a dirty fuel filter. the O2 sensor typically does not cause this problem. O2 sensor will cause ur car to run rich if it's bad but i've never seen an O2 sensor cause a car to hesitates. change the fuel filter, i'm almost 100% certain that this is ur problem. hope this has helped.

code 12, egr..

bad EGR cause the car to hesitate? I bought the car used, called Honda, they said the EGR was already replaced under their special warranty.

Would I maybe be able to just clean it out, instead of replacing it?

you should open her up, check to see if its clogged first... if it was, unclog it, drive around and see if the CEL still comes back on...
