Default Question about Type R shifter. Please read...

I purchased a supposedly stock Type R shifter and it just arrived today. The shifter is chrome which leads me to believe that it is not stock. The seller swears up and down it is out of his stock Type R. Can anyone confirm that the shifter should or should not be chrome?

Yeah, I know that much... But it offers a shorter throw then the current shifter that is in the car.
