Question on cost of Japanese Integra Type R (RSX Type R)
ok first things first...
what is the difference between the (for the sake of this being in the RSX Forum) RSX type R and the RSX type S?
also what would it cost to get my hands on a RSX type R from japan? (not import cost... just straight cost in yen (or US dollar if you want to convert it for me)...
TIA
PS. all the google searches i have come up with are in Japanese and i cant understand a damn thing...

The out of door price here in Japan is anywhere from 2,850,000 to 3,100,000yen. Current rate of exchange is 107yen/$1. The sticker price is like 2,590,000. That is without audio and floor mats. That does include A/C. If you don't want the A/C, take off another 110,000 if I remember correctly. When I bought mine it came to 2,940,000 out the door. When I bought mine, the exchange rate was at 118/1, quite a savings.
I don't know how you can buy one directly and have it imported. I mean without registering it first here in Japan.
The differences between the R and S, well do you remember the last Integra, basically it is like that R and GSR as far as differences.

no... no i'd have to disagree on this one.
same chasis,
only differences is the motor, transmission, and exhaust, and a few other cosmetic items.
for the US market i'd just buy a dc5r swap and put it in a rsx for the cost.

sorry dude its not that easy, youv got to have a valid us vin number for the car you can just tell them that its a rsx and it will be ok, you got the prove to them that it passes US saftey standards, that it passes a list of other things, then you apply for a vin and wait and wait and wait and wait and hope they give you one, or you can register it as a race only car but you can only drive it the day before day of and day after the race and must provide proff there is a race and that you are racing in that race, if not they impound the car, or you can ragister it as a show car and you can drive it 2500 miles per year, every year youv got to go back and the car is checked out to make sure the miles are correct and they take apart your **** to make sure you didnt roll the miles back, its not worth it unless you buy from someone like evolution autosports that does the whole registation process for you and they charge you like an extra 15,000 bucks

OK the suspension settings are way different, there are extra braces in the R that the S doesn't have. This alone creates a completely different car in my eyes! The DC2 chassis between the R and GSR were also basically the same chassis, just the R was strengthened, the suspension was tuned more agressively, and that same chassis was used in the EG Civics, hence why you can use some DC2R parts on the EG. Yet those 2 are different in your eyes, well the same can be said of the S and the R.
One of my friends was over here last year, he has an S stateside, when he used to live here he had an EK9 CTR, well when he went for a ride he couldn't believe the difference and said he really didn't want to go back to driving the S, that he would remember how different the R was. Until you actually drive an R, and I guess I could say the same for me driving the S, you really can't make a comparison.

a-spec is basicly a typeS with body kit and a wing, bigger rims and lower suspensions. typeR's body seam is all double welded and alot rigid than typeS.
