Does anyone know how hot (temperature) a muffler gets?
i agree
i have a burn on my arm right above my wrist (about an inch above where my glove goes) from touching my headers. not fun pain. to top that i dropped my socket when i hit the headers. ya ya i know you asked about exhaust but they get really hot too. i would give it a night to cool off before any major exhaust work.

I'd say it gets anywhere from 400-800 degrees. My friend has an Exhuast Temp guage on his Supra (i know they are different temps) and his runs around 600 degrees on average. Hope that helped. Later

I think NA exhaust gas should be lower in tempterature than for a FI exhaust gas. For instance, I used 500deg paint on an exhaust before and it worked fine.
