Default Injector signal from ecu question

Ok, my injectors are not spraying at startup due to the ecu not telling them to spray. I've checked all my wires in relationship to the injectors from the ecu, all my ecu grounds, TDC/CKP/CYP wires from the dizzy to the ECU, and from the main relay to the injectors. All are within specs. I'm running an OBD1 B16A SiRII w/ P30 ecu (Tried 2 already, problem is not the ECU) in a 1991 CR-X Si. Anything else I'm missing that would tell the ECU to not spray?

was your car running fine, then suddenly lost injector functions?
or did you recently convert to OBD1 in your EF and this the first problem you've come upon?

I had a b16a first gen in first, ran for 2 years, then that died from a big dent in the oil pan. I got a OBD1 engine cheap on eBay, then swapped it in. I reverted back to how I had the wire harness on the original d16 before the swap, before I put this obd1 b16a in so I wouldn't get confused with what I did before. I had it running once in limp mode, started off of carb cleaner. Now it throws CEL 8 with 3 different ecus I've tried (after cranking 10 seconds or so) and it hasn't started since. I'm using a conversion harness from boomslang, brand new dizzy, saturated injectors spray with 12 volts applied directly and I removed the resistor box. CKP/TDC/CYP sensors all have 360-380 ohms when tested, ignition output signal has 11volts output. All ecu grounds tested. I can't think of anything else that would prevent the ecu from grounding out the injectors. I checked the ecu-side wires on each injector, each are giving .2~.3volts.

sounds like a got damn nightmare if you ask me.

I'm betting something is up with your wiring, how you reverted back to your D16 wire harness. You might wanna check on that if you haven't already. And/or perhaps the Boomslang harness is faulty somewhere too.

Btw, I'm not that great of wiring guru when it comes to converting EF/DA's to OBD1.

****, this nightmare has been going on for a month and a half now. I don't have a loaner car since this monday, I'm now relying on rides to work and back

Do you know of any other components in the ECU that would prevent the injectors from spraying during startup other than the sensors in the dizzy? I could try those. As far as the boomslang harness, I checked all the pinouts, they all pass the mustard. As far as going back to d16 wiring, the only things I did was hook back up the original o2 sensor wire on the inside harness, but I'm bypassing it for the 4 wire OBD1 o2 sensor on the boomslang harness.

BTW Thanks for replying on this

Ok, I found that I made a mistake following color to color using the boomslang harness. After you mentioned that the boomslang harness may be wrong, I did a search on problems with boomslang and I came up upon a thread that basically said not to go by color when going obd0 to 1 when it comes to the dizzy. I also found that some of the sheets that I had for obd0 pinouts were wrong, and I found a correct pinout guide. I re-wired the harness at the dizzy, and I got rid of the check engine light. Unfortunately I ran out of battery power to properly crank the engine, so I'll be testing to see if that was the only problem tomorrow while my battery is recharging overnight, I'll post my findings tomorrow.

BTW for anybody having the same problem, this is where I found the info that clinched it.

ont he 88-91 type ditributors the TDC and CYK wire signals need to be swapped when converting to OBD1 from ODB0... I'm talking from memory as i have notes at home and the wiring schematic. Its easier to just get a 92+ distributor and swap in the CRX si plugs which is how I use my CRX now with the AEM 1000 box (same as obd1).

Thanks for your help guys!

New update! I rewired the dizzy. Finally, it's running!!!!!!! The nightmare is over!!!!!!

I'll update on the performance of the new engine. Since my old engine died, I upgraded the following:

Toda B's w/Toda gears
Toda valvesprings
Toda Flywheel
Exedy Racing clutch organic disc
JDM OBD1 P30 mugen program ecu
Mugen b16a 4-2-1 header
Mugen thermostat/thermoswitch
HKS Sport exhaust

Should feel more performance with all these mods compared to a stock first gen b16a with CAI, right?

with some dyno tuning, I'd certainly hope so!
glad to hear you figured your wiring issues out

Thanks Katman, I'll post my dyno sheets when I do get it tuned. BTW off topic, your FF-squad website's webradio's got some good tunes I heard Le Tigre -Decepticon DFA Remix on it, loved it and promptly bought it on vinyl for when I spin on Friday nights.
