Default new injectors and v-afc

I just installed some rc 440cc injectors on my d16z6 and I am using a v-afc to tune it.

I found in narrow throttle I was fine at around -26

With wide throttle I need to keep it at about -36, which works until I hit vtec in which case it ran VERY rich even at about -47.

I had the vtec set at 4900, could that be part of the reason? I reset it to 5400 and will try it tommorow, but any ideas?

But other then when I hit vtec everything is perfect, other then the idle it seems to popping (best word I can think of) alot. However the A/F ratio seems to be fine (tuning using m500). Once again any ideas appreciated...

The idle was resolved by running alot more rich -13 makes a perfect idle.

Still interested about the vtec engagement point and it running so rich.

Can anyone help?

Let me restate the question. Will having an earlier vtec engagement point make the engine run more rich then if the engagment point was later in the rpm band?

i think 440cc injectors are to big for the vafc to handel

you should look into custom ECU tuning (uberdata. hondata, AEM EMS)

what you need to do is be able to adjust the fuel pressure, not the injectors. You rough tune with an adjustable FPR and then FINE tune with a VAFC.

The best way to do this is by going to a dyno where you can read your air/fuel and then adjust everfything accordingly. I gained well over 8 whp and 15 lbs torque easily, and I still need more time.

I agree, I think a FPR would solve the problem.

I am however installing a turbo in about a week, which I think its fuel requirements alone (especially nearing vtec at around 5500rpms) will lean it out enough.

So I will probably only touch vtec w/ wide throttle tell then.

Also I have a plx m500 (which I love, ), so I can read my A/F ratio while using my butt dyno.

Then when I strap the turbo on it should solve the problem you think?
