hey im new and i have 99 accord lx sedan 2.3L sohc vtec and the check engine light is on and it is putting out a code P1705 can any body tell me what the code is nd why the check engine light is on

 

My list says that's an automatic transmission code. No shift except 2-3, lock-up clutch not engaging.

 

P1705; short in transmission range switch circuit. Do any of the gear indicator lights stay on when the trans is not selected to the indicated light? If no, you may have a problem in the wire harness from the range switch. If yes, disconnect the trans range switch. Do all the lights go out? Replace the range switch. Try this first, then post back here and I can walk you through the wire harness diagnosis later.
