Default removing bumber supports.....read....

yea, im thinking of doing this,How much does the front and rear really weigh?

I know maybe I should leave them on there incase of a wreck, but do they help that much? I meen in Japan, there is nothing but a little rod there instead of a big steel beam. So what do you think. Im trying to cut down on weight as much as possible.

well they do weigh a decent amount but think about it this way that little fender bender you may get into where someone rolls into you or you accidently hit them or whatever is going to be alot worse without the support basically your looking at radiatior support problems and headlights and all that stuff. take off you bumper cover once and just look and you will see what i mean without it your whole frontend will be much more vulnerable to damage even in little wrecks

Ive heard stories of insurance companies not paying for damages because of the removal of the supports. Regardless of fault. They will say the damages were far more severe as if they had the support. It will be a time in hell to get them to pay for anything.

Guys, modding cars is fun, but it can be taken too far. Especially when you are talking about life and death.

Don't do it.

Did you really just ask us what the benefits of removing the bumper beam are?

Oh my god please dont do that. I would really hate tosee someone die because they wantedto save some weight. Imean its a good weight saving idea but at the same time not a very smart one...no offense

if the "bumper support" you're refering to is that roller like thing on benind the front bumper its acutally just there to reduce vibraitions... go to the honda dealership and look in their catologs.. it shows that it helps reduce vibrations and its not for saftey.

No it's the entire front bumper assembly and it's there to meet USDM safety standards -- even though these standards are quite different in the rest of the world. Just check anyone with a JDM ITR front end -- they have removed the USDM bumper support and replaced theirs with the flimsy JDM one.

It's an option that you can do to remove some weight -- just make sure you know what your getting yourself into.

it isn't really life or death but if you get into a low speed fender bender, you will see the damage more prevalent than if you had the bumper support. It isn't worthwhile IMO because if anything happens, you'll be paying more for it. Remove some other crap before touching the supports.
