Default Should I even bother?

What up, y'all. I'm new to this forum. Just bought a B18A1 from a guy in Georgia. It's from a 91 teg, don't know the history on it, mileage, etc... got the engine, a hydraulic D16 tranny, integra shift linkage, B18A1 ECU, and a bucket full of bolts for $300. Tranny's for sale if anyone wants it, best offer and you pay shipping.
Anyway, question is, should I bother trying to build this engine, or just get it running stock and drop it in a CRX or Civic hatch? My friend wants to throw a VTEC head on, but I haven't read any threads about a B18A1 block with that build up. Any advice is welcome.

Oh, yeah, you smart-*** ************* out there, save the drama for yo' mama. I don't want any bullshit replies to this question.

Peace.

Welcome to H-T. Depending on what route you want to go with the motor, that will determine if you want to rebuild it. If you plan on boosting, then I'd say rebuild it as you really don't know the true condition of the internals. If you just need a motor to get around with, just drop it in there. Your budget is also going to be a factor.

Thanks for the comment, brother. I think I'm gonna just get it running stock and try to find a cheap roller skate to throw it in. Maybe rebuild and boost it later. My budget sucks right now. I heard that these engines don't make that much power without boost anyway, but if it's pulling an HF, it'll probably do okay. Still, all that crap I got for 3bills was too good of an offer to pass up. Speaking of which...

Damn, I really gotta lose this D16 hydraulic transmission. It's useless to me, it won't bolt up to my B18 and it's just taking up space. Somebody buy this bitch for $100, please!

Peace.

I would at least put on a new timing belt, water pump, etc. Its just general maintenance itmes that'll be easier to do with it out. That way you can start its new histroy off on a good note.

Right on, I have to do most of that general maintenance anyway. When I bought it, the head was off and wrapped in plastic, ready to ship for a port and polish. So, I have to replace the timing belt and gaskets, etc... Now I just have to find a CRX or hatch to drop it in. Anybody in North FL/Jacksonville area looking to sell one?

Got a call from a guy in Mass. today. He wanted to know if the D16 tranny would fit a B18C1. No way dude, sorry. You should have searched the forum before you asked that question. I'd have called you back, but you were whispering like you thought your mom was gonna catch you on the phone and I couldn't make out what you said your name was or the call back number. You shouldn't hide your Honda fetish from your mom.
