Default Am I losing power with my icebox?

I installed my homemade icebox using a short ram intake and the stock intake box but it seems to me that I don't have as much of a response as when I had a cai installed. I used the same filter and half tube as the cai so what could be wrong? Or is this icebox restricting air flow?

Yeah I know my engine bay is hella dirty.

are you putting a cone filter inside the box or do you have the piping sealed to the box and using the stock paper filter?

without knowing what your "homegrown" set up is, its hard to comment.

Did you modify your stock box like BSQ's setup? If not, then what you're running isn't much better than the stock system.

Here's BSQ's page: http://www.geocities.com/bretq

just take out the filter box, attach a cone filter.

do you even have a complete seal around your airbox where the intake pipe goes into it?

mistreated teg...

put the stock intake arm back... youre only hurting the car and its performance sucking in unfiltered air.

unless you ahve a tube going from the bototm of the box down to behind the turn signal then it's not an icebox. and of course you won't have the same response.. you are restricting air!! the comptech icebox is huge. it is the biggest possible size for each application to increase response. chuck the box. get a cone filter

The air is getting filtered using an injen air filter which inside the stock box, I wouldn't mistreat my teg. I love this car.

BTW Cougar, I do have a tube coming down behind the turn signal. Also the Comptech box is what, $400 or something like that? For that amount of money i'd go for the Mugen which is only $200 more. Mine costs me $40 which I thought would be good just for the time being.

So I guess you have a setup similar to the BSQ Icebox? BTW, the Comptech Icebox + filter only cost me about $220, not $400.

yadda yadda... why dont you take 5 seconds and clean up the coolant spray in your engine bay?

ok i didn't know if you had the tub or not on the bottom...fact still remains. using the stock airbox will decrease response as it is small.
