Well, I had the 7500 mile service done today, and decided to switch to Mobil 1 Synthetic Oil. And it was almost twice as expensive as conventional oil. Did I get screwed? And is the price difference worth the benefits of synthetic oil? I do plan on continuing with it from now on.

 

Change your oil yourself and save money, it's 2x as expensive yes. Immediately, you probably won't notice anything dramatic. It's a long term thing...after 100,000 miles, you'll probably be glad you put it in.

 

I went to Pep Boys today and bougt mobil1 for 4.49 each.. yep.. very expensive.. so you didn't get screwed.

The benefits? I can change my oil every 6000 to 7000 miles now and the oil doesn't break down. Also the engine runs a little smoother.

The price/benefits of longer oil changes are worth it to me since my commute puts many miles on the car..

 

That is all I use-mobil one. It's a 4.47 at mejiers.

 

Mobil 1 is not expensive; Elf F-0 costs about $25 a litre - now THAT's expensive

 

someone else just posted that target has mobil 1 for say $2.xx a quart.

note to self: go to target.

 

i pay 7 dollars per liter for amsoil. Mobil 1 is a bargin.
