sounds like the cable is stretched. have someone pull up on the hood while you pull the cable and it should pop up.

cables arent that expensive, i think like $18 for a new one at the dealer. not too difficult to install either

hmmm, is there a way you could get under the car and play with the latch from there?

think of it this way, it is a good theft deterrent

Go to the 99 cent store... Get some of that speaker wire. It holds up well... GHETTORIG it to replace the existing cable and BOOM! You got a working cable... It doesnt look that bad either... DIY! Rules!

he has to be able to get under the hood to be able to do that.
and why would he want to so that anyways? for a few dollars more he could do it right

Here's what I did when my cable stretched itself to death (actually, the nylon collar at the latch-end of the cable snapped off so it wasn't putting any resistance on the hood latch mechanism).

I jacked up my car (use jackstands) and pulled the lower splash guard off. I then pulled the two corner screws from the bumper where it connects to either fender. I pulled the two bolts (or more depending on how well maintained your car is) out of the bottom and that allowed me to basically pull the bumper away far enough that I could comfortably get my arm and a long, flathead screwdriver up to the mechanism to manually release the hood.

Replace that bitch and you're set. It's a pain. I suggest making your younger brother help like I did =p.

Sheesh the audio method works A-Ok no one looks at the cable anyway.

for 17 bux more for the stock cable... thats worth 17 bux on other stuff...

Trust me things like this arent noticeable and donthelp performance... They are the same function as the stock cable

save your 17 bux and go buy your girl a sandwich
