HELP in VA getting off this M0th3|2FUc|<ING axle nut
Ive sprayed this ****** down with a whole can of PB Blaster, and im still breaking breaker bars on it. Thank GOD I buy craftsman or I'd be broke from these things. NO I dont own any air tools and I wish I did. Any ideas what else I could try, or if anyone in fredericksburg VA with air tools wants to help that would be awesome
I have broken 250b torque wrenches, 1/2" breaker bars, and anything else.. so, I just invested $300 in a IR 2131 1/2" impact.. composite body 650 ft lbs. of reverse torque.. if you lived in Texas I'd let you borrow it. That's the only way your gonna be able to get that thing off without a fight.
well this is how I got mine off with no air tools. use a 1/2 breaker bar with a 12 point socket. but you need to use a jack handle off a big jack as an extension. That should give you enough leverage cuz the breaker bar and handle together will be like 5 feet.
if you still can't get it off ya better eat some more Wheaties !!!

Best thing to do is to go by the dealership and offer a mechanic say.. maybe.. $10.00 to loosen it with his airgun. I'm sure one of them will say yes.
I've always just used breaker bars to get mine off. Is your car driveable? Head over to any shop with air tools, have them break it loose, tighten it back on then go home and take it off.

hell just rent one. they give you your money back when you return it.
Either that or bring your car on up to my place if you want to and I'll get it off. I have an 1100 pound 3/4" snap-on shockwave impact. It'll either take the nut off or the threads

man, i had this same problem last time i did my drivers side axle. ive got the baddest 1/2" air gun out right now, the snap-on with 750 ft-lbs, and it didnt even budge it. i had my friend who weighs 200 lbs hang on a 10' breaker bar, and it still didnt budge. i wedged a breaker bar against the ground and put the car in reverse, and it still didnt budge. what i had to do was drill a hole, two holes to be exact, on opposite sides down the threads, to relieve the tension on the threads. then i got out the acetalyne and torched it while a friend was leaning on the 3' breaker bar. it finally came out.
i did a customers car where the pass. side nut came off, but the axle didnt. so we took the whole hub assembly off, we drilled the axle out, kinda, starting with 1/4", 3/8", 1/2", then 5/8", put a short bolt down the hole, then used a 5lb sledge hammer to pound it out.

if you have acess to propane you might wanna try red-wrenching the bitch. heat it up red hot, and it should expand and come off like buttah.
Take off hub cap (stock wheels) on wheel to expose the axel nut or if after market rim, take off center cap. With the tire on use your socket and breaker bar to break the bolt loose. Make sure the tire is contacting the ground. The tire will give you grip so it will be easier to loosen the bolt. Done this to two of my civic and it works great.
Thanks for all the tips guys. I broke another breaker bar last night, but I have a friend who I found out has a really nice air compressor that he and his dad use on their plane, so Im just gonna borrow that. I am also going to do the torch method on it. Hopefully they will both work together so I can get that bitch off. Should I go to honda and get 2 new axle nuts when I reassemble?
