The grounded part of the plug is the metal parts that touch the head when the plug is installed... ie, the threads and the metal around them. The spark plug wire provides the positive electricity. If you touch the grounded part of the plug to a part of metal on the engine and try to start the car, it should spark. Just be very careful do you don't light something on fire or zap yourself. Hold it by the plug wire's insulated rubber boot and don't touch anything metal or lean on the car.
