HOW THE HELL DO I HOOK UP THIS GODDAMN A/f guage, automere

where do the white and purple wire goto?

Purple and white wire? When i got mine i only had 3 wires, Red (power, went to radio), Black (ground went to a bolt near by) and Purple (went to the white wire on my 4 wire O2 sensor).
I have no clue where you got this white wire from. What type of a/f gauge is it? what company?

Disagree. It is priabbly one of the best ways to keep an eye on your A/F ratio, so if something goes wrong this COULD help you to keep from detonating a piston.
Sure a 1" tall mechanic in there to tell you would be better, but it's not a bad idea!

An Autometer A/F gauge used with a stock O2 sensor is about as usefull LED windshield squirters. It cant read accurate enuff to do any good. Neat little dancing lights.
Had the chance to whitness a car getting tuned that had an Autometer A/F gauge installed. On the dyno, untuned the car was running pig rich. Showed 4 green bars on the Autometer gauge and off the scale rich (under 10) on the dyno. After the dyno, the car was pulling mid-high 12's on the wide band A/F dyno gauge and the Autometer gauge lost 1 green led bar. Little to no usefull help. Think if you ran into the 15's A/F wise, you would probably still show green on the Autometer.
Sell it on E-bay

Red - power
Black - Ground
Purple - White wire on O2 sensor
White is for your dash....thats wat my instructions said...but mine didnt come with a white wire. I think the A/F gauge is personal preference. "Do wat u want its your car"

I really don't know why people can't seem to go to the source. I mean who better than Autometer to get the instructions for installation...

That being said hte white wire is a 12v light source for the Cobalt series.
The Autometer A/F gauge is a voltometer that reads the 02 signal. since it is constantly changing under conditions, the light moves around irratically, only measure true at WOT when the ECU is dumping a lot of fuel into the motor, at this time the gauge is going to read all the way rich (or pretty close), and under deceleration when it will read so lean that it goes off.
