Default Attempted theft of 01-1058

Last night someone tried to break in to my ITR. My car is parked in a parking garage on campus, it has cameras and you have to have a swipe card to get in and out, i thought my car would be safe (guess not ). I come out to go to work this morning and find that my passenger side door handle has been pried up. Luckily they didn't get into my car and get anything or take her. The cops said that they guy was wearing gloves and used a crowbar to attempt the theft. He said that my alarm or someone driving by prevented him from taking the car. He also told me that he would look at the tape that was at the end of the row that i parked in to see if there is anything there. But i am basically SOL to find and catch the person who did it.

My door is completely screwed up, the door is all dented and scratched from the crowbar and the door is permanently locked, so i can't open it.
what pisses me off is that people are so damn inconsiderate of other people, i Worked my *** off this car and this is what i get. Maybe i should just fix it and sell it and buy a beater car until i am out of college and can provide the ITR adequate protection.

Oh well sorry for the long post i am just pissed off and needed to vent. If anyone knows where i can get and ITR door, door handle and locking mechanism for a decent price let me know. Thanks guys

does insurance pay for all of it since it was attempted theft or will i have to pay a deductable?? I haven't called insurance yet because the police officer said to wait until he looks at the tape.

You got lucky...he was most likely a rookie theif...An experienced theif would have got in the car by prying the window back in a matter of seconds....and there would have been more then one guy...especially for a type R....You most def caught a break on this one

If you continue to leave it there your car will get stolen. Buy a beater or take the bus.

There is a good chance they will keep coming back until they figure out what they're doing.

I think that this web-board has demonstrated conclusively that the Type R is NOT a car you can just park anywhere.

You need to park it in SAFE areas. Public (even private) parking garages do not qualify as safe parking areas - especially when leaving the car for long periods unattended.

And yes - you will have to pay your deductible - why wouldn't you?

Your insurance policy should have 2 deductibles: 1 for collision, and 1 for comprehensive. Since you weren't involved in a collision, your insurance claim would fall under comprehensive. Insurance companies will never let you get away without paying something
