Default Need to re-re-adjust valve lash after head rebuild?

Thanks in advance for the help guys and girls.

I recently had the head off my LS rebuilt due to a broken timing belt (let this be a lesson to you all). My mechanic says that I should bring the car back to him in a few hundred miles to have the valve lash re-adjusted.

Is this necessary? I don't want to spend more than I have to on that ricer.

Yes, necessary upon installation, and after a few hundred miles.
