Default greddy vs custom catback

I wanna put exhaust on my crx this week. I 'm looking at a local greddy catback w/ high flow cat for 300. I got a ride in the car though and the exhaust was rattling pretty bad. The kid said that greddy has known fitment issues? Is this true?

Otherwise i was gonna have a shop do something custom. I had my 89 done there and was very happy with their work. He gave me a guestimate over the phone which would be close to 400 though. I wanted to go 2.5" (For future turbo), high flow cat, 22" resonator, and a magnaflow muffler.

Would i have fitment issues if i wanted to do an aftermarket sway bar in the future?

What do you guys think?

Which Greddy exhaust is it?
I heard the MX may have an issue where the resonator hits if a short shifter is installed - I have a stock shifter with no problems.
If the hi-flow cat he has is a Carsound, then they honeycomb inside may have come loose inside (somewhat common). Not exactly sure what you mean by rattling, though...

Go for the Greddy. It has a great reputation here in the EF forum and will bolt up trouble-free (where a custom catback may give you some fitment issues).

Let me clear that up...his was rattling back by the rear LCA, he said it was hitting the gastank/LCA. I coudlnt really tell which it was hitting because it was dark.

My last custom job was done great. NO rattling or anything. The guy said if it does make any noises bring it back and he would fix it. So i'm not worried about that with the custom.

IF i went custom, anybody know what a good sized muffler is to fit under there? Like 4x9 and length? Whether to get both inlet and outlet ..... offset or what?

Thanks

im using a Magnaflow muffler(non Canister type) with a new resonator....i am very pleased with it so far. has a nice deep tone to it through all gears, only thing is, like with anything other than stock, it will have a slight rice sound when VTec kicks in. This is only for a fraction of a second though and goes away.

I have always wondered why almost everyone turns to Greddy, is it because of all the media (Magazines, Tv) or what not, it hurts for me to see companys like Invidia, APEXi not get noticed as much, and for them having such great exhaust for our cars...I would hold off and do your homework on this one!

I cant hold off anymore...soo i'm trying to get some help on my hw!!

haha, but i ordered a magnaflow muffler and high flow cat today 2.5"

My goal was to try not to go over $350, so custom was pretty much the way to go not having time to hawk over classifieds for something local

I agree with you on the greddy thing. Everyboyd is like greddy this greddy that....

I m looking for exhaust as well, something that would clear the factory swaybar.

My Thermal R&D catback clears the factory rear sway with tons of room to spare.

BTW, if you're not gonna run a cat, you should use a baffled muffler instead of straight though (otherwise it will be incredibly loud and probably sound like ****).

maybe cause greddy makes quality parts...

i have owned a greddy sp and i loved it...i loved it so much i want another one...

i dont know why your saying turn to apex'i, when apex'i doesnt make an exhaust for the crx and invidia makes some ugly *** side canister muffler for the crx...

I haven't heard any bad **** about greddy.

I would go with a company thats known world wide before i got a custom set up.

Example:
Which one do you think is going to flow better
2.25 crush bent piping to a weld on muffler.

OR

The greddy catback with your hi-flo cat on it

There we have it.

Get the greddy!!!

I dont like the big shiny 4" tip on the greddy. That will get me more attention than i would want and pulled over more than I come on honda-tech in a day.

I'm not getting crush bent piping silly.
