Default Note about installing new FD

well, you should probably read the helms manual AHEAD OF TIME.

fuggin bolts (FD to Differential) are left handed thread.... . also note, Toda Flywheel has 9 bolting locations to the pressure plate, whereas the ITR fly and PP only has 6. need 3 more bolts there. that was a bit of a suprise.

gotta call honda/acura tomorrow see if they have either of these bolts in stock. Mike K, you got any of these?

D:

My FD came in finally to IPS Racing (I should be getting it next week sometime). If you are interested in saving me a bit of cash in installation let me know. I had emailed you a couple of days ago about this.

heh, oh well, acura has no love for us this morning. FD bolts are $4.95 each, PP bolts are like $3.85 each. suxor. just wish it hadn't taken us 2 bolts to figure out that we were torqueing the **** out of them, instead of loosening them.

All I gotta say this what a fucken nightmare it is to install a final drive, from trying to remove that pain in the azz clip to break the tranny apart, to have ball bearings fall out of the case, to getting the lsd out, to remembering which gear goes where, to breaking bolts, to finding out we dont have enough bolts. ahhhhhhhhhhh

I think I had a bad dream trying to reassemble a tranny in my head last night. arghh

All I gotta say is make sure you have a second car!

by far the funniest quote of the night....

"damn, they musta used that red lock-tite on them, the super lock tight...."

my buddy lou just after we broke two of the bolts that hold the FD to the DIFF, and just before we realized they were left hand threads.

I found they came out much easier if I tried to tighten them!

I think I read the Helms about 50 times before the first bolt was off the car.

Hope all goes well from here on out. Let us know how you like it!

Regards,

hey D, just don't ever take apart a tranny with a ATS lsd in it. the bolts for the final are standard thread! you will be breaking more bolts and scratching your head wondering why again.....
