Default Valve cover

Is the valve cover the same for 96-00 civic? (excluding the si)

I sheared a bolt on the valve cover, and need one asap. No honda dealerships carry these in house (how lame!). If I go to a junk yard, I wanted to know ahead of time if I can pull one off of an older car - mine is a '00 EX.

Thanks!

exactly which bolt did you shear off? Because I don't recall there being any bolts on valve covers....They all go through the valve cover from the head. Though I can't say that for your specific car for sure..

you're right - the bolt goes through the cover and screws into the head - clamps the valve cover gasket.

but then getting a new valve cover isnt going to help you. You will need whatever part of the head that the broken bolt threads into...

Also, I could be wrong, but I think that all of the SOHC valve covers are interchangeable.
at least I think.

Sorry, I wasn't very specific...I needed a new bolt that holds down the valve cover.

In any case, I just stopped over at the local junkyard and found some bolts off of a '98 4dr DX (specially equiped with robin nest and three eggs next to exhaust manifold). Same length and everything. This leads me to believe that at least from '96-2000, all trim levels (except si) use same valve cover bolts (short and long).

Best part is, I got them fo' free and today!

Thanks anyway guys!
