is there anything we can do to our stock 5th gen headers to have them work better..

i can't change headers cause i'll change classes at race .. headers = prepared class here.. but there is no rules against prepping the stock part so ..

i know that it has beend done with B18 headers..

is there anything i can do ? port ? resolder ?

You can take off the header and put in a type s header. It's still manufactured in the same modle and year as yours. So it should be still considered stock.
If not take it off and clean the carbon from the exhaust ports with some sandpaper. Be carful if ya do.

i'm completly rebuilding the engine neway ..

the type S header is not an option as it goes way more down for the ATTS unit
and it's kinda pricy for nothing..

+ i need to get a header that will look or is the stock one of the car cause my class doesn't permit to change the header..though nothing on modding it
eheh

Get a 4-1 race header then weld the stock heat shield over it. Also, paint it a dookie brown rust color.

Or else extrude hone it.

isn't the real question to ask, can anything be really gained by modifying the stock header? if you spend $300 to modify the stock header and only get 1 hp out of it, the money would have been better spent dyno tuning. something to think about.

300$$ ?

how the **** am i supposed to be able to pass 300$ on modifying a stock header man ? ehhe

i'm doing it all myself neway ..
and i know some people at machineshop/welding place so...

and no i cna't use a 4-1 race header and weld the heat shied on it
howam i gonna pass inspection??..+ it's kinda cheating alot ;p

that's why i want to keep the stock header..and maybe help it out a bit

so i'll rephrase my question ..

What are the majof FLAWS on the STOCK header of the prelude 5th gen base..
and what could be done to IT ( the stock header ) to help it a little ..??

thanks newya for all the inpput guys

diameter ... can't do a lot about that unfortunatly..
i wonder if the diameter is really one of the flaws on this header..
it's kinda hard to know, unless the exact same design with bigger diameter has been tried and worked better... any experience with that ?

Just to clarify something here...

If the rules state that you are required to use your stock header, wouldn't that imply that you have to leave it stock? My interpretation of the rules (for SCCA at least) is: if something is not specifically mentioned in the rules, then it's not legal to do so.

The way I see it is that changing the header is illegal for your class. Modifying the stock header is the same as changing the header, thus would also be illegal.

Of course, your club may run an entirely different set of rules (along with how grey areas are interpreted), so please disregard my question in that case.
