Buying a CRX, couple questions.....please help
I have the oppertunity to purchase an 88 CRX DX with a SI tranni and ECU, the car was recently in a accident and the rear wheel slid into a pole, bent the frame i was told, has problems starting up, something with the disburatior(SP), and the CV axles click thats really it, the guys my friend. he wants to sell it to me for 1200 with the frame fixed. I just dont know if this is a good buy or not, im 16 been without a car for 4months and not likeing, does 1000 with fixed frame sound more resionable? please help me....thanx.
Well considering frame damage.. that is a big thing, but you mentioned that he'd fix it. I'd put into the matter the miles on the engine, interior condition, and body wise. If all that is in good condition then all you have to worry about is the CV Joints and if its just the distribator then that isn't to big. Tell him you'd give him $1,000 cash for it, because of the CV Joint.
hey bro, im not sure i'd even give a grand for it. what with all the problems, not to mention the frame, even if it does get fixed, he wouldn't be able to get that much out of it to anyone else. i'd be lookin more around 5 or 6 hundred. its not worth that much because of all the problems. thats just my opinion
i have also found out that he has been driving it with out an intake or filter..i guess this car went right out the window..this sucks..now im F$###...thankss...

i really cant make my mind up about this car...the only thing really holding me back is the bent frame..if he'd fix it i would buy it but for like 800.....the starting problem isn't really a big issuse..the distubrator should be like 100 bucks or something...the cv axles aren't that big either..i dont know..i would like more input..the car has been kinda beat from what i've seen him do to it..if i do buy its going to be a project car hoping for a LS/Vtec i duno some more input would be great...do u know about how much it would cost for the frame to be strighted? i know the controll arms are bent i dont know about the frame tho, but that's what im told..sry for jumping around a bit..i just dont know what to do..any information would be great..thanx
One problem just leads to another, and then another. Your going to end up dumping way too much money into this thing and its not even gonna be worth it. Sure it may be cheap in the short run, but it will be expensive in the long run.
I would look more into it, like Underbody rust, the shop that he will be getting the frame fixed at, and THOUROUGHLY inspect body for any other related damage or rust? Since you want this as a daily driver, you don't want ton's of things wrong with it so you have to dump your money into repairing it all the time.
ya i dont think im going to buy it, he said something about getin reinforcing plates welded inplace to strenghtin the frame, that doesnt sound like strighting to me...oh well he's my friend to ,did think he'd try to screw me over..oh well i guess i'll go back saving for the 5th gen hatch...then i can go the orgnial route of GSR turbo..or just dumb the grand into my 78 step side motor, but i want gas milage..lol..thanx guys..
dude i only paid 1200 for my 89 crx si with only 128k on it and flawless interior a little rust but not any more
