Default To Swap or Not To Swap

Hi to all reading this. I need some help, I currently own a 94 Accord and am interested in dropping in either an H22 (92-96 JDM Vtec) or a H23A1 (92-96 US non-vtec) in. The ultimate gool, however, is to also throw in a turbo. Yeah I know it's way out there....... I know that a turbo runs better with lower compression ratios and the 23 would be close to ideal with 9.8:1, but I could also lower the 22 compression (10.6:1) via pistons and head gasket. So which one would be better in the long run. The car will be street driven, but I want enough HP to keep up with Hatches or maybe some V6's. If anyone could please help it would be greatly appreciated. Also I live in Chicago so there aren't many shop around that could do this, I was thinking if I had time to drive out to Cali and get my work done, but if anyone knows of any other places where I could be guaranteed that the job would be done right that would be great. I'm not really worried about how much it is going to cost just as long as the price is reasonable and the work is good and clean. Thankyou in advance for your help.

yeah, it isn't cheap. a h22 swap would get you into a high 14(street tires). providing you don't have 18" rims, body kit, and huge *** wing. a good turbo kit on top of that should get you into the 13's (street tires)with the right set up, clutch, lowered compression, high boost, etc.......

if anyone looking for prelude motors right now, please let me know because at my work we're having the prelude special and the drag turbo kit special. i don't really know what time you'll be hitting, but a while back my friend has a 93 honda accord with 100 shot of NOS he hit 13.0 at palmeadale. that was like couple years ago too. pretty fast for a accord.

I know it's a lot that's why I'm trying to get input of either people who have done it or who know a little more than I do. I already got quoted for 4g's for the 22 with tranny ecu and work so I know it will be steep but it's either that or start over with payments on a new car which is not what I really want. Thanks though. Also if anyone knows how hard and how much it would be to import the type R accord from europe or the Sir from japan if you could let me know. I know customs is going to suck and I probably won't be able to leagally drive it on the street, but just curious.

so how much will a h22 shipped to New orleans 70065?? i have a 91 accord and i was thinking of doing a swap too.. but here in NO the swap for everything.. including auto to manual swap is 7g after tax... and that is like a price of a HB.. so im really stuck between a new car or a swap..

one of my friends is a Honda Tech. i asked him about the Prelude swap. he said that the smogging would be such a bitch, that it really isn't worth it.

please give us a call on the h22a complete swap, or email me at streamlineek@hotmail.com personally i believe 7G for the swap is a little too much, but if you guys are interested please give me a call or email me. i could beat that price by far.

Do the H22A. I had an H23A for many years, and it is a sweet motor. Still, the H22A (despite the higher compression) would yield higher gains with a turbo. Ever see the dyno chart of a VTEC car with the VTEC solenoid disconnected? VTEC makes more power--even with the turbo. Additionally, H22A motors can be had for $2600 w/ ECU and tranny. Not too bad.

100 shot on a 93 accord with the h22a and hit 13.0 at palmadale.... i think is worth it for the money. the motor runs about 2900-3000 and a great NOS kit runs about 1000. i think is good. but people do have different thoughts. so do whatever makes you guys happy

Does anyone know what the ratios are like on the Type S tranny. And if it would be good for a turbo. And if so would I be able to use it with a H22A? Thanks
