Default What do I need for an XM install with an XM ready head unit?

I tried searching but the our search engine doesn't look for words 2 letters or less (i.e. XM). I was looking at the offerings on ebay and their auto packages, but I think those units are all FM modulated. Are all XM units FM modulated. What exactly does "XM ready" get you in a head unit. Can I use my disc changer and XM? Sorry for all the questions, but info has been hard to gather. I have a pioneer head unit controlling a disc changer in the back.

edit: grammer

typically xm ready means that you will need the actual xm receiver and antenna. the xm ready part is that you can control the XM radio through your head unit without an external control. to run XM and cd changer, i think your going to need one of those pioneer audio busses to connect multiple inputs, but i may be wrong

Do you know where I can find more info on these audio buses. I tried the Pioneer web site and got nothing from their search engine. Is it still in production. I think you're right about needing the bus. From what I've read, it seems the XM system uses the IP cable which in my case is already being used to control the CD changer. I have another auxillary input which is the way I may have to go. I tried talking to the folks at Best Buy, but they weren't listening.

you can use XM and a changer on the pioneers (as with like all units). The changer cable goes from the radio into the XM receiver, and then another cable goes from the XM unit to your changer

So the units are chained together in "series" I take it?

yeah, it all "daisy chains" off of each other, so you need a pioneer xm tuner and antennea.... the xm tuner will plug directly into your radio through the ip bus cable, and it has an input for your changer cable....
