How many watts b4 harness starts to melt???

Default How many watts b4 harness starts to melt???

i was wondering how many watts can my bulbs be in my 96 civic type r headlights b4 they start to cause damage(melting housing or harness)?

Check to see what size the wire is. If the wire is rated at less watts than the bulb then the wire will melt before the bulb blows.

i think AMPS are what melt wire and not watts

Just keep the stock lights on there. If you want better lighting go HID. Trust me it sucks having those "HID look" lights. There is no reason to be burning up harnesses.

fwiw i had 90 watt headlights on my EG, and the stock plug started to melt

I have an upgraded harness and I run like 90/110 watt bulbs in my civic. Nothing melts, but it's also not that much brighter. The reflectors in these lights suck. All you can do with bulbs is change color. Maybe try driving or fog lights if you want more light.
