yeah you fugged your valves.. check this.. last month, one night coming back home i was so tired that i couldnt even feel my hands.. i was doing like 90-100 redlined 4th.. slowly try to move to 5th.. i had no strenght to push the damn shifter far right and just move it up... 3rd!! release the clutch semi-slowly.. at that instant i was in a tunnel.. all i saw was that brigth amber needle and 10K!!! i thought it was over.. so i clutch in and start yelling.. then slap it into 5th and gas it.. to see what happens.. all seemed fine.. i guess luck.

if i were you take it back to the dealer and tell them it happened out of the blue.. just pretend you dont know what's going on.. hopefully they will replace it for free

but don't be suprised if they don't cover it under warranty. It's not a factory defect afterall.

You probably bent all your exhaust valves. Expect about a $600-800 repair bill.

No it's not covered under warranty cuz you fugged up, and not the car.

How about upgrading your valve springs and retainers just in case you accidentally do it again.

someone here in southern california got it covered under warranty. It just depends on the dealer and how sympathetic they are. Some are just nicer than others.. But all in all, just try the dealer.. they can't lose nothing..

It sounds like you did bend some valves. Check what code it's throwing. i did the same thing, but i didn't do any engine damage. I did fry my clutch, and they replaced it under warranty.

good luck

It will be more than just bent valves.I did the same, it bent the #3 rod and bent 2 of the valves in cyl #3.I hope your dealer won't give you any trouble. The warranty reciept for my works was $4,200.It was an entire shortblock replacement along with the head being taken down and checked for possible damage plus 2 new valves.

Bad Boy01GSR...just out of curiousity, where in TR do you get your work done? (assuming you don't do it yourself) when I left there, there wasn't too many tuners out there willing to take apart engines...

I have heard the ECU will log overrevs (thus giving the dealer ammo to not fix it). I would reset the ECU just in case, and hopefully clear it. Just disconnecting the battery for a while will reset it. I don't know if it would clear the part you want cleared, but it is worth a shot.
