lately its been really hot out (90-100). i noticed that when i press the brakes, they slowly sink to the floor. this is a major problem considering that if i need to stop in a short distance im f'd..anyone know what the prob can be? i bled my brakes before this all happened but did it according to helms. .i have an eg, stock booster. gsr front disks

cliffs note:
-hot days brakes dont work
-stock eg booster, gsr fronts
-bled according to service manual
-doesnt happen on cool days

this is intresting....iwould re-bleed them once more and if that's not the case the m/c is give up on u ..from my experience...good time to upgrade the m/c and the booster also...good luck

 

i guess ill re-bleed them. i thought that maybe i left one of the bleed screws loose but don see any liquid. im going to search but while im here, which m/c should i go with? i was told gsr...is there a better choice? what about steel brake lines?

 

bench bleed them, if it still doesn't help upgrade the MC, you could have a bad booster or MC also

 

change your fluid, and bleed your brakes

 

Brake Booster Test:
1. With car off, pump the brakes until they are firm and hold.
2. Turn the car on.
If the pedal sinks your booster is fine.

Master Cylinder:
Press the brakes, if they catch and the pedal then slowly drops to the floor it is bad.

Otherwise, if your pedla just sinks staright to the floor there is likely air in the system. If you can't get it out take it to Honda for them to hook their machine up to it.

 

not to jack the thread but i just got through with my 5 lug install and my brakes are really bad. I switched out my stock MC for the R MC and bled my brakes. My brakes work and i cant push them to the floor but the pedal isnt as stiff as my old brake setup- stock rotor in the front drums in the back. It feels like its not holding pressure but there are no leaks anywhere.
any opinions?
should i just keep bleeding them?

 

Reading your cliff notes, the exact same thing happened to me when I had my stock MC and BB.

You said that you bled your brakes before this all happened right? I believe that was my mistake when I did it because the MC probably had some crap/sediment that when I bled my brakes, I most likely tore some seals inside the MC.

Now as for other symptoms, do you notice your brakes working better when you step on the pedal quickly rather than slowly for the pedal to sink to the floor? I did that and yes, it was just the MC that was wrong with the system.

I've looked around for MC rebuild/overhaul kits and unfortunately, they're discontinued. You can however, buy remanufactured MC's for about 70 to 80 bucks CDN.

Since I believe your MC crapped out, you have several choices:
replace stock for stock
upgrade to the US 91 EX 4-door (15/16ths) MC or
upgrade to Integra BB and MC

I did the latter and absolutely love it........anybody with the same upgrade will tell you the same thing
