Track pics from Watkins Glen in August...me and El Pollo
PCA posted their pics a while back. There are some good shots of myself and el pollo diablo on the track with some heavy metal. I'm the white 98 with ukdm wheels. I was running in the green group on street tires. Here's a link. http://www.rtr-pca.org/wg2001/green06.htm
If you scroll down halfway, you'll see my catching up a SERIOUS piece of machinery.
Click around on the various numbers...there are some cool ones of me with all kinds of crazy cars. If you go to the bottom of the page and click on 'back to drivers ed page', you can then click on the blue group pics to see el pollo running circles around a host of porsches on his yoko AO32R's.

Wai,
It wasn't as bad as it looks. The first day was much tighter in the green and blue groups...lots of trains, etc. However, as the weekend went on (it was 3 days with 4 sessions each day), things really started to open up. By the end of the second day, I was getting many, many clean laps without any traffic problems. Watkins Glen is a big track, so you can fit a lot of cars on it at once. Traffic eases up once everyone gets comfortable and speeds up a notch.
As for the cars...all kinds of good stuff there. On day 2, i got to run with that Maranello for a whole session. He pulled on me on the straights like nothing I've ever seen (including porsche turbos on that same track)...however, I caught him up in the tight sections. My instructor had someone time us at one point. I was running almost identical lap times. Of course, neither one of us was pushing too hard, but I'm assuming he was even less willing to risk his $250,000 than I was with my R. His instructor took his car on the track...holy...he was hitting some crazy speeds. I must say though...watching that thing pull away from me coming out of the turns onto the straights was one of the most humorous things I've ever seen...12 cylinders...500ish hp and tq....it seriously felt like I was sitting still coming into the front straight. I put it to the floor through the apex...and watched him take off. My instructor and I were giggling like idiots when he nailed it. The sound of those exhausts firing out the back into your face is incredible...It felt so good to reel him in through the boot though...heh. The owner was a really cool guy. I hung out with him and his brother throughout the weekend. He even complimented me on the R and said he couldn't believe how fast it was.
As for Matt...he was having his fun with a certain Porsche 996 Turbo.
Lights are covered up so they don't drop shards of glass or plastic if a rock flies up and takes one out. :thumbup
(Here's a preemptive edit...I am in no way comparing my car to a 550 Maranello...not even in the same ballpark...hell, not even the same game.)

BTW, if you intend to make ANY friends with comments like that, you might want to read up on post etiquette 101....oh and also, in case you didnt know....red valve covers usually correspond to B18C5s, not C1s like your car has.....oh, and just so we are all on the same page, you try runing watkins glen on all season tires like my friend Jeff was...
sorry bro, no one was impressed with your driving....and sometimes ppl let other ppl pass cause the jerk behind is driving too aggresive for their skill level....prolly what happened when i passed that 996..but regardless, try to substantiate your claims next time....
