CAR wont start - ECU not to triggering ignitor (measured with an oscilloscope)
Long story short my gsr wont start.
I've inspected most parts...but due to lack of info cant test the electrical behavior of the ICM (ignitor). I tried replacing it with one from a d16a6 as per a thread on HT....now I think I regret it.
I still cant get it to start and when I measured the signal the ECU was sending to the ignitor with an oscilloscope, I get nothing...the ECU isnt sending the trigger to the ignitor.
Since the distributor was apart when I did the tests, could any of these cause the ECU not to send a trigger signal?
- Gas pedal floored when cranking car (to avoid firing injectors since the car will obviously not start)
- Ignitor not connected to ECU
- Coil not connected to ignitor
I'd check these, but I blew my oscilloscope today, so now I'm flying blind.
I'm begaining to fear I may have fried my ECU when installing the ignitor from the d16a6
Any theories are welcome

Borrow an ecu from a friend and see if it fires. Maybe you plugged the ignitor in wrong. I'm not sure how the ecu will react with the distributor being plugged into the harness. But these are just a couple of ideas.

no....not sure how it would affect the sparks tho??
As for using another ECU....any clue which ones I can use? 94-95 GSrs arent that common around here

Use a 92-95 civic ex ecu. It will run fine. You can use a cx ecu but it won't run good. But hey it's just to start it right. Also did you check all your fuses?

obd1 cars dont have crank sensors only obd 2 cars u dont have to worrk about the crank sensor did u replace ur whole distributor i hade the same problem i was driving from a friends house went to a parts store went onside came out car wouldnt start tried everything even took an ex dizzy and rebuilt my ls but still nothing so i replaced my whole dizzy and there u go
The ECU is pulsing the ignitor at 6V, so its working.
Update:
I fixed the problem, the coil had failed...believe it or not it still had resistance in spec.
I tested it by ghetto wiring a coil from a civic to the itnegra's ignitor using aligator plugs...it spark right away.
30$ later I'm a happy camper
