front wheel bearings and brakes????
i got a lil problem, my car vibrates bad at about 55mph and up and the faster i go the worst it gets, my question is that does the wheel bearings have anything to do w/ this, its not my wheels cuz i just got new tires and they're balanced good, and the steering wheel doesnt move that bad either like it should when u have out of balance wheels, and the car kinda feels like it vibrates up and down instead of side to side, so what could that be?? also when im goin high speed, say about 95mph or so and then when i hit the brakes, the steering wheel shakes bad and doesnt slow down like i have warpped rotors, BUT i dont cuz i just got them turned and put brand new EBC green stuff brake pads, so what i was askin is will that have to do w/ the wheels bearings too, or maybe axles??? any ideas, thanx
it's always been the rotors if the wheel/front end shakes when you hit the brakes. then again a constant shaking is always something in the tires/wheels...
I've only had an axle shake on accelleration, and most the time bearings make some nasty grinding noises.
nothing definitive
, but at least a free bump...

thanx man, so if it was the axles then it would shake even if i was goin like 20mph right? and no i dont hear any grinding or anything from the wheels, i might have a bad tire, oh well, im still gonna try to get some new rotors, any suggestion on those, brand wise???
anyone else pleeeez, if u have any other knowledge....

to tell u the truth i was just checkin those out....and by blanks u mean the oe style right.....theres someone on this forum that sells them for like 35 a piece.....

if it's shaking even if you're NOT braking, don't worry about your brakes
if your wheel bearings are bad enough, it will shake at acceleration, decel, braking, turning, etc... just about all the time...
jack up the car, take one hand and hold the top of the tire... take the other hand and hold the bottom of the tire. try to move the tire in and out wiggling the top and bottom in opposite directions.
if the bearings are bad... you can feel the freeplay.
if the bearings are good, you won't be able to feel any movement except for the tire's sidewall flexing.

except he doesn't need to jack the car up.

yeah, i guess not, if they're really that bad. if the bearings only have very little freeplay, it might help to jack it up. that way, you won't mistaken the tire's sidewall freeplay with the bearings.
i've done that b4 and theres no freeplay, can there be anything else....the viberation gets bad sometimes and sometimes its just a little, keep in mind that the car feels like it viberates up and down and the steering wheel doesnt shake that bad......
i had the same problem and i did all the necessary routine and it came down to the bearings. i ignored this problem for a long time until one day i checked my tread of my front tires and they were pretty bad. i finally changed my bearings and knuckles and once i had the old knuckles. i spun the hub with my hand and that thing was grinding like hell.

so u couldnt feel any freeplay eventhough it was bad?? i guess i will change my bearings......thanx for the replys so far.......

double check the wheel balance first.. also if you do have a bad bearing it would actually make a grinding noise if anything.. If you have freeplay check all components brake system, suspension pieces and wheel. ect ect

check for bend wheels, warp rotors...
my steering wheel shake whenever i applied brake, and it was new rotor too. have to turn it about .002 now it all good.

well i got the rotors turned, i guess he didnt do a good job, see but its not the out of balance viberation, its like the car movin up and down and the steering wheel doesnt shake that bad(as bad as the tires does)

Vibrate all the time at highway:
Wheel Balance off
Bent wheel
Bubble in tire, or misc. tire deformation
Wheel bearing, possibly but ive never seen it, Ive only seen them making tons of noise
Vibrate ONLY when braking:
Brakes, warped rotors etc.
Good way find if its braking from front or rear is to pull the e-brake at highway speeds to see if it vibrates with just the rear brakes.
Vibration on ACCELERATION at highway speeds
USUALLY inner cv joint on 1 or both of axles bad.
There are other possibilities, but those are the most common.

1)wheel weights vould have fallen off or they could not be balanced right
2)the rim itself can be bent
3)If you had an alignment done recently maybe they left the locking nut on the tie rod loose
4)When your rotors were cut did they do them on-car or off-car? Maybe they didnt screw the two little screws all the way in if they cut the rotors off-car. They could have also stripped the lugnuts and the wheels are not bolted down correctly because the lugnut didnt go all the way down.
5)Do you have rear discs? They could be warped if you only cut the front ones.
6)The tires could be flinstoned (waited too long to balance them) so they arent round anymore.
7)Something in the suspension could be bent if you have hit a curb or a big pothole lately.
