went to start up the civic (ex) today and she had trouble starting, it would turn over and the spark plugs were working but it just wouldnt start. then i notied that as I was starting the car (or trying to) that the gas needle would go from full to empty just as if it stopped working. then after awhile of cranking it would start up and everything would run fine and about 30secs after start up i noticed the gas needle would go from empty back up to full again. what do you think? my guess would be sumthin with the fuel delivery maybe bad fuel pump, lines clogged, dirty filter, what what would explain the gas needle shorting out? anyone have this problem before?

Check your grounds. I was having problems with my instrument cluster like that and sometimes it wouldn't start, just like your problem. Turned out to be just a loose ground from when I put my Y8 back in.
