Can I buy a Honda Extended warranty on a used 01
I'll be looking at a '01 with 44K miles. I'm planning for a $21.5K cost, btw.
Obviously this vehicle is off warranty. can i buy a honda 6-year/75K warranty on it even though the original has lapsed?

I agree! We purchased a Non-mazda extended warrenty for my wifes Protege 5, the nice thing is if we don't use it in 5 years we get all of our money back.

I really doubt you'll be able to since the car has 44k on it... I think you can only renew the warranty within 36 months or 36k miles, whichever comes first.

My gf bought a v6 accord coupe, 00 with 40k a few months ago. She paid $1300 for the 100k/7yr warranty. I believe she got did a search for hondacare warranty on google and used the 1st dealer that came up. So far, they've spent over $1000 just changing the electronics for the airbag system and the stereo wiring. I forgot what was fried but the lights didnt come on any longer....anyway that repair job cost ~$200. So all in all, she got the warranty to pay for itself practically.
I dont remember what the cut off numbers were, but the more miles and the older it is, the more you pay for the warranty. I believe it costs ~$800 when you buy the car new.
actually i found an extended powertrain warranty for $750. it's thru universal underwriters. i googled them reapetedly and found no complaints on them. they're one of the biggest non-factory warranty underwriters.
honda certified warranty on used cars is not something that can be purchased. it has to fall under s trict set of circumstances to get certified. example: the car has to be traded to a honda dealer only. if they traded it in to any other dealer it can not be certified. even a honda traded to an acura dealer, or vice versa. only haonda can warranty honda cars, and acura can only warranty acura cars.
