95 GSR and need performance should i swap with a H22
I just recently bought a 1995 GSR with 120k miles on it and need performance i am just starting to look for things to do but i want alot of power with out NOS or Turbo. I am looking at either gettin a H22 swap that i can get for 2000$ shipped or make one hell of a NA engine. what should i do if not that, either changing cams, headers, let me know
Thanks
Thanks
well, imho-- h-dub swaps are sweet, but for allmotor apps, i stay keep the b18. If you're going to drop 2g's into anything, do a rebuild on your gsr. I say rebuild it using oem stuff such as itr or ctr pistons, and maybe some skunk2 cams (neo1z is selling em' hella cheap). I think this will be a better option for ya. And much more fun. The install of the h-dub swap isn't terribly easy-- check out my friends white gsr on our website: http://www.slowmotionmotorsports.com/mike.html
so if i were to get new pistons would you say bore it out a few thousand over or what. if i were to do that and get a cam and bearings. would that help me out quite a bit
Get new higher compression pistons, bore and hone it to 82.5 so you have nice smooth walls, and we have two cams, not one, one intake and one exhaust side, so get skunk2 stage 1s or type Rs, or whatever you want for both sides, and upgrade the valvetrain as well, to a type R valvetrain or whatever you want. And then get it tuned. Whatever you do its not going to bump you up as much as turbo, but you will be reliable then
if you want more power, go with skunk2 stage 2 cams or rm024a cams, with a good portflow or similar spring/retainer package. You will need to bump up compression to around 12.0:1 or so with those cams (ctr pistons will suffice) and a new intake manifold. With a good exhaust setup you could see 200 whp. A h22 will give you some more power, but it will be heavier. I say stick with the b18c1 and do some headwork. or you could go on the bottle.

if you got 2G's, start with a fully built race sleeved block and go from there
it'll cost ya about $1500, then just use what ya got left to rebuild the head. this way you can actually get your gsr motor to 2.0L and still have the block be reliable as hell

no. 2grand? intake, header, exhaust, cat, cams, camgears, shocks, struts, cryo2 intake cooler kit. all done. if you search around ull get this for on or around 2k.
