My friend has a 1988 accord and the axle makes the craziest noise. As he turns the wheel it almost sounds as if something is slipping inside and there are repetitive clicks and clangs. Once the wheel is straight there is no more noise. I dont know much about accords ( I have a 4th gen. lude) and am curious to know what that noise it becuase I'd like to buy for a winter junker. Also, if anyone knows about how much the whole axle is please reply and let me know. TIA!

 

The outer cv boot is probably ripped and is out of grease. Can either replace the whole shaft ($$) or take the time and replace just the boot.

 

Any idea on how much to fix the boot?

 

if the boot is ripped and leaking grease chances are dirt got in there. you have to replace the whole axle, cause one dirt gets in it ruins the CV joint.

 

if the ***** inside are already got sand'ed down, you need to replace the whole thing.
