Default see if you can help me with this

i have a 1995 integra ls non-vtec, and love it. i bought it 6 years ago and have had very little problems with it.

i did, however, give the car to my wife about a year ago when i bought a new one. well, i drove it the other day on the interstate and while i was drving heard a mechanical noise come from the engine for about 4 or 5 seconds. i dont know how to completely explain the noise, but it sounds like something in the engine is being moved, hydralically. almost like landing gear on a plane. i have no idea what could be causing this noise, but the car also sputtered a little bit every once in a while.

anyone ever had any similar problems?

no cruise control, but I did have the AC on. i though that possibly the compressor on the ac could be the cause of the sputtering( that or the belt) could the ac also make a noise such as what I described?

mine makes a pronounced noise when it clicks on...

but mine also occasionally makes a sound like something is moving like you described

I think it's just the compressor, just my guess though

I don't think loose belts would sound like a hydraulic sound--- quite possible it is the power steering, i know mine makes noise sometimes like that. Is your abs light coming on? (if you have it)

nah the abs light is fine. it just seems too loud and awful of a noise to be commonplace.
