Default Bad Boost Spike!

Yesterday I installed a Hallmans ES MBC and after i got it set to 9 psi, in 2nd gear it suddenly shot up to 15 psi. When i saw that i slammed on the brakes and stopped the gas and pulled over. Everything seemed to be fine, since the FMU had be covered, but thats now what im worried about. BTW this is on a base model rsx and not a type s, if that matters much.

Do you think anything in my head is damaged from this half second 15 psi? I think i would know if any major had happend the second i hit it.

Any insight is appreciated

Thanks...

THe only wierd noise that i heard was this morning and it sounded like a slight slight open wastegate. I was going to check that out later today.

If something happened, you would be able to tell.
Does the car still pull the same @ 9psi? If not, get a compression test done.

The wastegate was slightly loose but i still have a exhaust leak somewhere. I think its the downpipe.

And are you saying that the spike caused that?
Also, can you still hit full boost?

It's call a boost surge. it happens when you speed shift or raising your rpm though the gears. Best solution buy a boost controller and blow of valve. wastegate alone sometimes isn't enough. I have the same problems on my 03 civic si on a greddy turbo set up.
