Best way to launch an Itr? I'm hopeless...
Good morning!
I have just purchased a AP22 g-force accelerometer here in the UK, and I'm now busy wearing my tyres out. I'm however pretty crap at launching the car, and my best 0-60 is only 6.7 seconds. So, you Americans seem to be pretty hot on dragracing everything from go carts to F15s, whereas I seem only to manage to dragrace my own underpants when it is time for a **** and I wonder a) what revs to ideally dump the clutch( or whatever... ), and b) at what revs to change up for optimal acceleration.
My car is stock with no mods yet, although I am waiting for Tein suspension at the moment.
Apologise if this is a rather mundane question, but I don't want to embarrass myself at the dragstrip!
Cheers!

The supposedly ideal launch is a clutch slip from about 5-5.5k. Do this too many times though and you can wave bye-bye to Mr. Clutch. The time in my sig was achived doing drop clutch launches from about 4.5k or so. You want a fair amount off wheelspin, just not too much. You want to let the car burn out into Vtec and have the tires catch between 6-7k. The problem is that it is easy to control the wheelspin at first, but as soon as VTEC engages it is hard to keep the car from spinning up to redline. The main thing to work on is getting the car to hook up in VTEC.
On the street it's a different story, unless you know the pavement your on. I usually just drop the clutch from 3k and floor it.

If I were you...
I would head on over to..Brands Hatch, Croft, Donington Park, Knockhill, Mondello Park, Oulton Park, Silverstone, Snetterton, or Thruxton...
Then the car would be in it's natural element.
Good luck at the drag strip.
Let us know how you do.Will
i launch also between 5000 and 5500 rpms, i ride the clutch till the vtec engages and then let it out i get a little wheel spin enough for a 2.27 60' but a 13.9@100mph 1/4 mile and i have 80,000 miles on my stock clutch, your only riding it for about a second, so as long as you not riding it through the whole 60' mark your clutch should be fine. dont get me wrong it will wear faster but i seen clutches with less miles on them than mine go bad so im pretty happy with it
