Default Removing Springs Without Compressor

I've called around all the auto parts stores within 15 miles, asked my shop teacher and my neighbors, and nobody has a spring compressor I could use. I've decided to try to do this without a compressor. Do you guys have any advice on how to do this? Its a 96 Accord LX if thats relevant... I'm also putting in springs that drop it 1.2 inches. Thanks for any help if you could offer it.

Aright, thanks, sounds good. As I'm taking off the top bolt when the spring shoots, is the whole setup on top going to go flying along with the spring and my socket wrench?

Yup...you might want to use air tools if you have access to them

I just put eibach pro kit on my 95 lx..
I would suggest to get some thick fabrik and just roll the whole assembly up in it.. right before you expect it to "explode"

should help
at least all the nuts and washers won't be flying all over the place..
just my 2 cents..

i blew out my springs cause the spring compressor i had was pretty ghey. you should really watch out when your taking out the front springs, that thing will fly! but the rear springs arn't really compressed, and yes, like 'Renee@Nar-Spec.com' said, "Aftermarket springs dont need a compressor."

if you dont have an air compressor, get a friend to loosen the bolt while you hold the center nut with an allen wrench and then brace yourself!

The springs I got only lower the car 1.2" so I did need the compressor to put the new springs on. What happened was I wasnt sure if I needed the compressor to put them on so I just took them off without it... stepped on spring and used heavy impact wrench to take nut off... **** went flying, but it worked. Then when I went to put it on I tried a number of ways to compress the spring, but none of them worked, so I called up the repair shop that I had just gotten some work done at, and they lent me the compressor ... probly should have asked them before but whatever. I just got the front lowered today... I'm doing the rear's tomorow. It should be fine to drive on in the meantime right?
