Type R in CRX
i jsut got my hands on a crx with a ITR motor converted to OBD-I with a p30 ecu with a bad b16a tranny cable. i want to switch it to hydro tranny ITR. Please leave suggestions with what i should do to make it work better, where to get the conversion kit, and anything else you wouldn't mind helping with. Also should i switch back to OBD-II? or chip the ecu. and the speedo dont work.... so i havent felt vtec yet.

1. Transmission - Depending on what mount kit was used, you can use a hydraulic transmission. Both Place Racing and Hasport sell mounts for a hydraulic transmission. But I don't know about other manufacturers. Regardless, you have to get the mount from the same manufacturer as the mount kit used in the car. And if the mount kit is the old welded Hasport kit, I don't think their new mount will work. Also, you need to buy an actuator. You can use Hasport's actuator with ANY mount kit.
2. ECU - You have a couple of choices here. You can either get the ECU modified. Or you can convert to use a 1996-1998 JDM ITR ECU. This ECU is not really OBDII. It just uses OBDII plugs. But it only has OBDI sensors (minus a VTEC pressure switch and purge valve). You can change your wiring to use this ECU. It is not too difficult. And because these ECUs are quite cheap and ready to run your motor right out of the box, this is probably the cheapest way to get your motor running right. But the JDM P73 is not too tunable. If you go this route and want to tune the ECU, you will either have to go back to USDM OBDI. Or you will have to get something like the AEM stand alone system.
3. Speedometer - Check your speedometer cable first. See that it is actually turning at the speedometer. If not, check your cable and speedometer pickup (on the transmission). These may be at fault rather than the speedometer itself. If not, get an instrument panel with a speedometer that works. Instrument panels are easy to find and can be gotten quite cheaply.
