Why do people like/dislike polished lips?

Why do people like/dislike polished lips?
What do you guys think about polished lips.
Personally I like them, mostly because i dont like the way that a black or gunmetal wheel looks when it touches the tire and is all one color. I think it seperates the tire from the wheel nicely and adds a simple yet clean touch.
I have a set of Rota circuit 8's in gunmetal with a polished lip. And i love them. I am just curious why people say they dont like them. Believe me this still wont change my mind or make me want a non-polished wheel. I just want to know others outlook on this topic!

How is it a bad question... seems to me that you gave a stupid reply really. Of course people have different thoughts on differnt things. But that is not what i asked. Do they like them for the same reason i do maybe? or vice versa?

There is no "getting closer" to JDM. The car was either originally sold in Japan or it wasnt.
Polished lips IMO look better on large cars with large wheels. A 14,"15" or 16" wheel just doesnt look right with a polished lip. Small cars like Hondas use monoblock wheels, and a 1 piece wheel with a polished lip just looks gaudy. The only small wheel I've seen that I think looks good with a polished lip is the SSR Competition. IMO Rotas w/ polished lips look like buffalo ***.

Its all about personal preference and what YOU like...I like them personally on bigger cars and some hondas. NTM I have always wanted a car with wheels w/polished lip...dunno why

I agree with you droppedGsr on your reasoning, and also as mentioned I think the bigger the wheel the better it looks. Of course we dont rock huge wheels, but I guess let me say it backwards the smaller the wheel the funnier it looks. Another factor that plays a big role is the actual color of the car. While were on the subject I hate all these poeple that are doing it to stock wheels
I polished my lip for the simple fact that I wanted to be different and original. I When i planned out my rims, I did it because I had never seen it done before. Also Im not the biggest fan of a White car with black wheels, so the polished lip gives it alot of character instead of looking bland.

i know it wont fit in the title, you just put it in the body, and if you look in the title of my reply you would see it was to the other guy since it had his s/n in it...
