anyone pull a motor and leave the tranny in?
I'm about to do a motor swap on a 4th gen prelude, out with the h23 and in with the h22, motor only.. and its a 5spd..
anyone just pull the motor out and put it back in without pulling the tranny too?
I think it would be easier.. please discuss.. pros and cons
thanks!

Never tried it and that does not seem easier. Even on a full lift have fun supporting the tranny and getting the mainshaft out of the clutch. I think you'll find that it's more work. Just my $0.02 tho
Just pull the whole thing out.. it's much much easier. You won't have to wrestle it to get it out.. or back in.
In fact I bet you will save time by removing the motor with the tranny than you would by fussing with it.

agreed, separating the block from the tranny would be a PITA with tranny still attached to the car.

It's a pain in the *** with a five speed. Not too bad on an auto.

Did it once. Was actually easier to pull it. A little harder to put it back in. This was on a single cam though not an H series. Probably better off dropping the whole engine.

Pull them both at the same time and it'll be alot easier. I don't know what your thnking is behind it but I can't possibly imagine pulling just the engine being easier...

Put it this way too (maybe it's just me) but there are times when I would rather pull the entire motor rather than just dropping a tranny. I'm really only that way when a motor is dirtier than **** but I still feel like that sometimes.
