929 ITBs, DSM injcetors wont fit!
im starting to re-assemble my motor and just bought DSM injectors to put on my CBR 929 ITBs and found out they do not even fit in the hole. is grinding even an option, because the walls look so thin as is? anybody please help. trying to get this motor done with a week or two. thanks
my digi cam is messed up but ill try borrowing one of my friends. the best i can describe it is: you know how the injector hole is stepped. the first, larger hole is what is too small for the DSM injector. couldnt really tell if the second hole is big enough. ill try and take measurements tom
I've only laid hands on 954RR ITBs, no clue about the 929's, pics pls.
However, if they run the pencil injectors like the 954RR units, you can probably drop in a set of injectors off of one of the new K-series.

dsm injectors are larger than honda's. you will have to use the injector holes on the oem flange and grind out the rubber gromment so that the dsm will fit.

so theres nothing i can do to make them fit in the ITB injector ports. anyone know if RC injectors are the same size (physical dimensions) as oem Honda injectors.

do you mean they dont fit in the injector seal?
the injector seal should fit in the ITB hole..then use a dremel to drill out the seal so the DSMs will fit..

if the DSM injectors dont fit, i dont see how stock injectors would even fit as the seal's outer diameter are the same size...

I noticed on my 954 CBR ITB's any use of a bigger injector then the stock 240cc, would result in the rubbing of the idle control bar that runs across.

so the only REAL option is to use the stock injector positions, yeah?

when using honda injectors on the ITB holes, you don't use the oem rubber gromment, you use the one from the ITB. they are different size, and they seal a different area on the oem injectors.

I mean car 240cc injectors. Use the cbr o-ring for the bottom of the injectors.

If memory serves me correctly, You will need to break off the plastic 'dust cover' at the end of the injector for it to fit properly.....BUt pics would greatly help everybody out..lol..just an educated guess w/o seeing anything!
I don't remember breaking off anything. Are you talking about 929 or 954?
Here's a pic of mine with the obd1 240cc car injectors in place...

im working with 929 ITBs, the dust cover is not the problem, those clear. its the actual housing of it, the part that the injector seal sits on.

240cc ones fit fine, its the 450 DSMs that are problem due to thte physical size of them

nevermind i just borrowed a pic from kteller.com

ok for the most part there sorta 3 sections of the injectors.
1. the thinnest part [grey] which goes around the pintale
2. the 2nd thinnest part [black section right above the grey part]
3. and the fattest part [the top black section, right below the injector clip].
its the diameter of the 2nd thinnest section that is too thick. just by 1mm. hope that clears it up. thanks for all the help guys

exactly
, which is why i noted "I noticed on my 954 CBR ITB's any use of a bigger injector then the stock 240cc, would result in the rubbing of the idle control bar that runs across"
Perhaps you should see if RC has anything for you that is in the same shape as the original bike injectors, but in difference cc sizes. I am sure they do, afterall, Russ Collins has a history with drag bikes if my memory serves me correct.

I might be interested, actually I might have a spare IM for you to use.

its alright joe i still have my stock b17 manifold, guess ill run the AEBS
for now till i can scrounge up more money for my new ITB setup. unless if 92-95 H22a (which are 345cc i think) injectors will fit in injector holes then ill keep it.
