Default markings on new tires

I just got es100's from tirerack, and i was wondering what is the purpose of the orange and green lines that run the curcumference of the tire. Thanks

i dont know about your tires in particular but it would mean that side should be mounted in towards the car or face out!

i heard it has something to do with the tire balancing, like weight points on the tire. my yokohama paradas have orange and yellow dots on them, 1 of each color at a seemingly random point on each tire. seems like someone at a tire shop told me that once.

I think 97dxnut is talking about thin stripes that go over the tread. I'm not sure, but they wear off pretty quickly, so a tire store can tell if you've gone more than a few miles, for warranty/return issues.

yeah guess i should have read more carefully. it is for tread wear. i asked the tire guys that one time. funny tho, i don't think the paradas came with them, but they lose most tread after like 20k anyway. just fyi if anyone was going to get them, but they are great until then. very sticky.
