Default just installed vortex front spocket on my f4

i just finished installing my front spocket on my 00'cbr 600 f4. iwent with the vortex -1 in front. it feels alot better in first the rpm's really climb very fast now.i am shifting alot more often. and my speedo is prolly about 10 mph off. but i don't care i love this sprocket. on question though i had to tighten my chain after i put the sproket on and the index line is right on the replace chain mark on the chain tensioner thing. do i have to replace my chain now or not because it's still alittle loose i prolly need to go another half on turn on each chain tensionerto get it within spec. so do i need a new chain?

it wont be in spec with the stock chain since you went down 1. I went down -2 in the front and mine says it needs replacing too. It says that cause you tightened it more since you lost an extra tooth.

yes you can still tighten it more until its within specs. It doesnt matter that it says replace chain...ur an exception since you lost a tooth. Also when you get a new chain they usually come in a length of 120 links, well most do and you just have to cut it down from there. You cant buy a chain with the exact amount of links you want on it. You have to cut it down.

When replacing sprockets, its a good idea to replace both front and rear sprockets along with a brand new chain. Once on the bike, they all mate together. The chain will break in to the new sprockets and vice versa. You shouldnt only replace 1 or 2 of this bunch even if you keep the stock number of teeth on one of the sprockets. Just a tip ive learned from other forums.
