Default CYP sensor? did search and couldnt find an aswer.

Would a bad CYP sensor give the car some sort of rev limit @ Vtec. We have a H22a motor on a 98-99 Accord and its throwing CYP sensor code on the C-E-L ever since we installed Crower stg3 cams on the car. Well we changed the cams to Crower Stg 2 thinking that the cams were too aggresive but the car still felt like it had a Rev. limiter on it as soon as VTEC engauges. please help I have tryed everything and nothing has worked only thing to now is to swap out the distributor and see if it still does it. thatnx in advace.

on a lude motor itll cutt off at 4800 rpm, that is bounce of rev limit. you need to swap in a new or a known good distributor and see what happens. the cams really shouldnt have anything to do with it.

So it is in the distributor.

Are they interx between a OBD0 integ, and a OBD0 Civic?

Thanks for giving a little light. seems that no one else can.

good lord that was a messy post.

CRneXt-- "I know that it is in the distributor.
I am not going to replace the entire $250 distributor, if I can put a sensor in mine from another car, say, a CRX Si?? Bro, I have a garden in my back yard that has more honda parts buried than you can scavenge in a freaking year at your local peel and steal..."

HAHAHA. Sorry some people on here a jerks. But im really not to sure about them being interchageable. I dont see why they wouldnt be, but I do believe that the acutal distrib housing may have changed dimensionally. So maybe that might alter the size of the sensor. im almost sure i have obd1 s laying around. if you live close to me i can send it to you. i have no need for it

EDIT - oh i didnt read you post closely enough. you want to swap obd0 for obd0, that may work, its defin worth a shot. just to make sure, check TDC and make absol sure its dead on. Also pin B11 (orange) B12 (white) is CYP on the ECU on a obd1, might be the same for you.

I copied this from some site
/************************************************** ***********/
CYP SensorTDC/CKP/CYP sensor is a combination sensor located insidedistributor. Each sensor generates a separate signal. CKP sensordetects engine RPM to determine fuel injection timing and ignition ofeach cylinder. TDC sensor determines ignition timing at start-up(cranking) and detects when crank angle signal is abnormal. CYP sensordetects position of cylinder No. 1 for sequential fuel injection toeach cylinder.

doesnt really help just telling you why i was saying to check for TDC
